At Last Rapunzel’s Photo Painting Sees the Light
Back in February, I was able to finally take a picture of Rapunzel. And as soon as I saw it, I knew I was going to make a photo painting of it. So I started right away, working on this painting. But I got distracted and never finished it. It was almost done so this weekend, I put the finishing touches on it.
As always I include a link the the full sized image that may be downloaded and reproduced for personal use.

Next I’ll be working on a few photo paintings from Star Wars Celebration
Sleeping Beauty Photo Painting. Aurora finally makes her debut
Original Photograph of Aurora
I have been a Disneyland Annual Passholder for many years now, yet I have hardly seen Aurora around the park. I find this Ironic since it’s her castle that marks the entrance into Fantasy Land.
So a few months ago, I finally had a chance to take a picture of Aurora, it was in princess fantasy faire and outside. Even though they have improved the lighting in the meet and greet, nothing the lighting outside is always better.
This was a new technique I tried out mainly using photoshop, even though I used Corel Painter for a few touches. I like the result, but I still need more practice using the photoshop techniques.
This is the original photograph after some enhancements that prepared it for the photo painting process.
The Crown was the most time consuming process. In many cases I would have simply blended it all together, and given it a cleaner and simpler look. But I really liked the thorns in the design. I had never really noticed it until i started this painting. This was possible with the new Photoshop Painting technique I used for this Photo Painting of Aurora. It would have been virtually impossible to do this with any of the previous techniques I knew in Corel Painter.
This Picture gives a more detailed look at her dress and hair.
This is the final Product, I hope people enjoy it.

Long Lost Mulan Photo Painting – Disneyland Resort
After completing the photo painting of Tiana (my previous post), which I have yet to port I found a photoshop file of Mulan that was ready to paint. I considered doing that next, but I got distracted and never went back to it. As I was looking through some old files I cam across that same image, but in the form of a Photo Painting. It turns out I had completed it back in 2011. My guess is since I never printed it out, I had no recollection of completing it. First I was glad that I didn’t do the work twice, and it freed me up to work on my next photo painting of Aurora.
I’m including the photo painting at all it’s intervals

Disney Princess Photo Photo Painting of Tiana at Disneyland
It has been a long time since I’ve updated this blog. I have plenty of material, yet I never seem to post it. Well that is about to change (at least with this post).
This past week I went to a book club meeting for the book “The Artisan Soul” by Erwin McManus. At the end of the meeting we were challenged to take 20-60 minutes to do something creative that we love. After showing someone in the group the other Disneyland Photo Paintings I had done, she suggested I do another one. I jokingly said, they asked for 1 hour not 5-10 hours. So I thought, why not? I hadn’t done a photo painting since 2011 and I had forgotten how much I really enjoyed using Corel Painter.
The next thing was to find the image that I wanted to use, and immediately a series of photos came to mind. In 2012 on my birthday I went to Disneyland and decided to stand in line for the Princess meet and greet. Tiana was the third princess in line. so at that point she was still waiting for the first guests to her. When she noticed I was taking pictures she decided to do some posing. I ended up choosing the one you see pictured below.
For the first time, I will be posting an image from each major step. The whole process took about 10 hours at a leisurely pace while the office played in the background.

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed photo painting. I will probably start another one in a few weeks. Please let me know which character you would like to see next: Mulan, Jasmine, Pocahontas or Tinkerbell.

Pictures of the Disneyland Resort (Including Aladdin and Jasmine) May 27th 2011
May 27th was the first day that the new Mickey’s Soundsational Parade (those pictures will be in the next post).
After the parade I spent some time going around the park and taking pictures. I believe this was the first time I saw Jasmine in her traditional outfit rather than the cloak (seen on the post from March 25th found here). It’s probably because summer had arrived and it would be impossible for her to spend more than 5 minutes with that cloak.
I also went through the single rider ride for the Indiana Jones ride, it gave me access to areas you normally don’t get to go through when you normally stand in line. So you will see a picture that has a piece of wood that says “Deliver to: Club Obi Wan”
March 25th, 2011 – Characters & Locations – Disneyland and California Adventure

This was a day of many firsts. I had never seen Jasmin with Aladdin at Aladdin’s Oasis. It was also the first time i saw Cruella de Vil and Peter Pan (not together) walking around the park. It was also great seeing one of the amazing artists at work at the “Off The Page” Store in California Adventure.

This was a busy day. I’ve already posted the photos from The Aladdin Musical Spectacular and the Disney Princess Fantasy Fair. These are the remaining photos i took that day while walking around.
This was the only time I’ve seen Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Other pictures include the Queen from Snow White, a cast member and the Incredibles’ Pixar Pals Mini Parade/show
